Ren Ray’s practice unfolds as a continuous negotiation between internal states and external systems. Guided by bodily perception, metabolic thinking, and a sensitivity to context, his work does not settle into fixed forms, but instead materializes through various channels—sometimes visual, sometimes spatial, sometimes durational, and sometimes through installations.

Growing up between Beijing and Auckland and later studying in London and Los Angeles, Raymond inhabits a space of cultural and physiological multiplicity. Drawing from traditional medical frameworks, spatial structures, and the ethics of energy distribution, he approaches art-making as a way of calibrating tensions—between body and environment, attention and excess, presence and residue.
